Inside Look- Hot Towel Steaming

Listen… I’ve always seen & heard about hot towel treatments, especially at barber shops. So boom. here I am in barber school. Long story short one of my classmates asks if I would sit for him to practice his facial service techniques. Now you know me, I’m always down to support my peoples so ok cool, let’s do this. First step, cleanse. Cute. Second step, hot towel. Uhm… hello!? My skin felt IMMACULATE.

My pores were breathing in HD. My skin felt so smooth. Now let me tell you something… Folks stay telling me I got the softest skin. I be like lol uhm… I moisturize when I get out the shower… what crocodile skin having folks y’all be messing with for real??? I digress *crying face emoji* so any anyways… I think my skin feel like skin. But THIS? Man… it was giving silk. It was giving elegance. My face has never felt more luxurious. This was an experience! It’s really the little things that make the most difference. I don’t know about you, but life be life-ing a little to hard sometimes. Yes, I love what I do, but customer service can be soooo overstimulating when you do it all day every day. I’m a student building a brand from nothing. I have to be a social media rep, business owner, stylist, therapist, etc etc. Standing on your feet all day, always looking at a screen, etc. All this can be so taxing. This was self care at it’s finest. This service consists of a heated towel wrapped around your face. This services forces you to slow down & disconnect. If I need my eyes to address something, sorry… Get somebody else to do it! I gotta stand up? Nope. Catch me when I get up. Social media? I’m sorry (not really) I’ll get to it later. All you can do is sit & breath, the epitome of just existing. I don’t know about you, but I NEED that. The mental affect this service has is just phenomenal.

Who cares about self care & mental health? Well I do. BUT that isn’t enough of a push for some. We all have a tendency of putting ourselves last thinking we can handle everything. Being able to “live without it” is enough for a lot of those in our community to accept just… living without it. BOOOOOO! Wack. This brand embodies self care. But… let me lay out the full benefits just in case the mental relief isn’t good enough *eye roll*.

Ight so boom. Them eye muscles you use all day every day, the ones staring at blue light all day stuck on screens all day… yea they’re TIRED. The hot steam wrapped around your face provides muscle relief for your eyes. Hot towel treatments are recommended remedies for numerous eye conditions like styes (painful bumps) and pink eye. This works by stimulating the meibomian glands in your eyes. These glands produce oil which helps lubricate eyes and slow the evaporation of tears. This also helps clear discharge created by your eyes which leads to blurry vision, infection, pink eye, etc.

Who has allergies? Those with allergies experience a lot of sinus pressure. The moist steam eases the pressure caused by allergies & illnesses. Circulation is increased which helps your body repair damaged tissues. This basically means the heated compress helps speed up the healing process!

Now I love me a nice beard…. but a nice beard! I know yall be getting ingrown hairs, razor bumps, buidl up, all that. If you have a beard you should get this service. It softens the hair. It reduces ingrown hairs. Hyperpigmentation is also reduced when this is done consistently. This service is safe for even those with the most sensitive skin. The increased circulation stimulates hair growth for a fuller beard. Don’t tell me you follow it with a serum or oil… man… I’m running my fingers through it. Sorry not sorry!

Hot towel treatments are great for your entire body, but I’m done listing all the amazing qualities it can have on your body because I only offer hot towel treatments for your face. Sorry! I do hair (I can recommend some fire estheticians or massage therapists who would love to do it for you!) & basic facials so… those are the main benefits you get with Missy 202! For a limited time this service can be added on to your appointment for only $7 (usually $15). Getchu one!
